Check out our earlier posts for parts 1 and 2 of wedding flower trends. Our friends at Community Florist presented these at an in-store event we hosted for Phoenix-area wedding and event planners. Yep, we need to know about more than dresses, so we like to stay on top of current trends. Here's #3 for wedding flowers for 2011:
SHABBY-CHIC
This theme is borne from a couple of other wedding trends we've seen:
- A move toward vintage or vintage-inspired themes, and
- Brides trying to save money, since this canbe a DIY project (though we don't recommend it–spend your time before your wedding with your loved ones, not arranging flowers!).
Here's a photo:
Shelli from Community Florist said that it's popular to use things you can find at home, such as teapots and vases, even if you really buy them at garage sales. The mis-matched yet same family theme is what works here. So if you love old hats, John Deere tractors, even cartoon lunchboxes, these are all great options since you can buy different varieties in the same family.
Shelli also said that if you are thinking of making your own wedding centerpieces but aren't sure how to do that, her staff is there to help. In fact, we think she said you can buy your flowers in bulk from Community Florist and come in the night before your wedding to arrange them. For a low hourly rate, they'll have a designer on hand to help you.
Even better–and I still think I didn't hear this right, so ask–if you buy your flowers from them but still want to make your own arrangements, you can use their containers (vases, etc.) for NO CHARGE. Yah, that's like using $80 vases for FREE. Now that's a sweet deal!
