We recently had the pleasure of hosting Sherry Lee Meredith and the Go Curvy television team in our Los Angeles area wedding dress store. We ooohed and ahhhed over the pretty sparkly wedding dresses before getting down to business and discussing the hottest trends in plus size wedding gowns today.
You can watch the segment on plus size wedding dress trends on YouTube, or, here’s a brief recap of what brides will be wearing this fall:
- Lace
- Lace
- Tulle and lace
We’re kidding! But lace and tulle will continue to be best sellers, whether you’re looking for a ballgown or a fitted trumpet or mermaid style gown. We’re also still seeing a lot of blush, champagne and light gold colors. They’re still light enough to look bridal, but they’re great for flattering a wider variety of skin tones.
For wedding dress necklines, the illusion neckline is great, at least to try. Some of our curvy brides find it to be too high on their chest for the most flattering line, or a bit too matronly looking, but they’re still great to try on. You’ll see a lot more of these when our fall collections arrive.
We’ll also be featuring more “fancy back” wedding dresses, which feature an illusion or lace back, sometimes with a keyhole opening. Most of our plus size brides can’t wear a totally open back, so these gowns with a little more coverage are sexy but still give a bit more coverage and support. As always, our Strut wedding dress buyers look for today’s hottest wedding dress trends and interpret them in a way that will fit and flatter our curvy brides. You might be surprised at how great you can look in a low back or fancy lace back wedding gown! Give us a call to check out this hot trend!
Thanks, Go Curvy, for letting us talk about our favorite topic, wedding dresses!
