Acacia’s romantic off the shoulder wedding dress turned out to be SO PERFECT for her colorful, flower-filled special day. Acacia and Dustin got married on November 11, 2022 at the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch in California. If you ask Acacia, although the flowers were not in bloom on their wedding day, there were still numerous gardens throughout the property, giving the most romantic vibe.
We love hearing about those magical moments on our bride’s wedding day. Acacia ended her reception with a special last dance with her new husband Dustin dancing to Mariah Carey’s, “All I Want for Christmas is You.” Acacia said, “It was an idea that had been shot down by a few people but we decided to do it anyway.” Acacia added, “It was a hit with the crowd, so much that we had to request to add time to the Dj!” Acacia ended up having to extend her reception because everyone was having so much fun on the dance floor!
Acacia and Dustin’s relationship was long distance for five years before tying the knot and when choosing there wedding venue, their November 11th wedding date was the most important factor, “as we loved those numbers.” Acacia added, “Make a Wish was something we said to each other daily.” Acacia and Dustin celebrated their love surrounded by 130 of their family and friends from Oceanside, California and as far as Liverpool, England. Talk about an emotional moment!
We asked Acacia about the funniest part of her wedding day and she shared with us the cutest story! Acacia wrote, “For a year my sister and made-of-honor, kept telling our 11 year old pug Olive, that her wedding was going to be so beautiful!” Acacia added, “She took our words literally as she started to cry for my husband and I at the start of the ceremony”. Acacia mentioned her sister lives in Las Vegas and had not seen her and her fiance in about a week so she had fear of missing out. Acacia added, “I motioned to my sister-in-law to let Olive go and she immediately bolted to the top of the altar with us.” We love moments like these that make for the most incredible and once-in-a-lifetime photos.
Acacia shared with us what her bridal experience was like at Strut Bridal. Acacia said, “To be honest, I was slightly hungover as I made my appointment the day after St. Patrick’s Day.” Acacia added, ” I am so glad I did not cancel my appointment because it all worked out!” Acacia continued, “Strut came highly recommended so it was he first shop I booked an appointment at. As a plus size bride I felt the need to seek out a shop that was going to make this process a positive one as you hear many horror stories on Facebook bridal groups!”
Her wedding dress shopping story is like so many others: “I did not go in expecting to choose THE dress that day but Krystal eased my nerves.” Acacia continued, “She took all of my requests (consultant) and ideas the heart and was very patient but also helped me get out of my comfort zone.”
Acacia was very intent on finding a blush, long-sleeve wedding dress but she ended up falling in love with a gorgeous, romantic off the shoulder wedding dress with a sweetheart neckline. Acacia said, “I believe my dress was made for me and I ended up being the first to try on that floor model, so we jokingly dubbed it, ‘The Acacia.'” How befitting since Acacia ended up purchasing that same wedding dress and it fit her like a glove!
We asked Acacia to share one piece of advice to give to another bride who is in the planning process, and she said “Don’t forget to relax and really take in your wedding day!” Acacia added, “Typically I am very involved in any party planning, so I thought I would be a mess on my wedding day but it was just the opposite.” Acacia said, “I felt calm and that was not what I was expecting.” Acacia added, “I cannot recommend Strut more! Everyone I encountered was so professional and nice! I could have spent all day talking to the consultants!”
