As summertime temperatures in Arizona soar well above the one hundred degree mark, we’re pretty happy to look at these stunning photos from snowy Banff, Canada, and dream about cooler weather. We love Kelcie’s story because she’s a two-time Strut Bride, but with a twist: she bought wedding dresses as two very different sizes. We’re so excited to share Kelcie’s sexy mermaid wedding dress!
Kelcie and Brandon truly weathered the cold for love. In the middle of the Yoho National Park in British Columbia, Kelcie and Brandon said their vows in an intimate ceremony at the Emerald Lodge in the middle of winter. We asked Kelcie what attracted her to the venue and she said, “It was absolutely stunning and it fit the budget so we booked it!” Kelcie said, “We really wanted it to be intimate and something quiet shared between the two of us… Our lives are so busy with our careers and four kids, that the goal was just to spend time together.”
We asked Kelcie what was her favorite part of the entire day and she couldn’t pick just one! Kelcie said, ” We had so much fun enjoying a nice slow morning getting ready together and just enjoying the moment. Kelcie added, “I had forgotten to pack snowshoes so we had a lot of good laughs trying to take our pictures in the freezing cold, in ice, with me trying not to slip and fall.”
Kelcie ended up losing the cloak she wore on her wedding to combat the cold. Kelcie said, “At one point your body reaches a certain threshold where cold is just cold and you go numb.” Kelcie added, “My husband was so sweet though, grabbing my hands and trying to blow on them to warm me up in between shots.”
Kelcie is a beloved client having previously purchased a wedding dress from us back in 2011 for her first wedding. Kelcie said, ” I had a great experience there and I was around 360 pounds and it was the only store that made me feel like I belonged.” Kelcie allowed Strut Bridal to be a part of her bridal journey yet again when she returned to Strut to find her wedding gown this time around. Kelcie fell in love with a gorgeous lace illusion sheath wedding dress with an illusion train. Kelcie said, “I put the dress I ended up purchasing on and immediately loved it.” She added, “It had the little bit of sexy I was looking for and accented my curves in the right ways.”
We asked Kelcie to share one piece of advice she’d give to another bride, and she said, “Save the money on all the silly frills, elope!” Kelcie said she has done it both ways and said, “One thousand percent recommend planning a vacation to a location of your dreams, load up all your wedding attire, book a photographer, and enjoy just the two of you.”
