Sarah had the coolest comic book/Star Wars mash-up themed wedding, complete with light sabres, and we’re super excited to feature her today! Like a lot of 2020 and 2021 brides, Sarah’s wedding date changed… a LOT. THREE TIMES, in fact. But it ended up being just magical!
Sarah wrote, “We got married at the Wedgewood Weddings in San Clemente. I chose this venue because it was all inclusive. I was able to bring some of the venders i already had in mind, but over all i loved the concept of having to do alot of the stressful work of planning. I loved this venue because you are able to see the ocean from that location. I loved the fact that the ceremony was outside while reception was inside with a seating area for guests to chill by the fire pit outside. we originally had 125 guests to attend. We ended up having 62 people attend in person. We hired a live stream service that was awesome for those across country to attend virtually. Because of our date change not once… or twice…. but 3 times, we wanted to give our guests who felt uncomfortable the option to attend virtually!”
Sarah shopped our Long Beach, California bridal store and found the most beautiful aline wedding dress! It featured spaghetti straps with a plunge bodice and unique lace pattern on the skirt.
Sarah added, “My Favorite moment about the whole day was literally just the moment when Andrew and I were sitting at our sweetheart table and we looked at eachother. Then we looked out to the all the guests just watching us for one moment and all i saw was family and friends from both sides becoming one big giant family with nothing but smiles. After 2 postponements and so much changes and guest list cuts… we all looked at one another and it was nothing but big smiles. I knew at that moment that our family and friends would join together so perfectly. “
We love how some of the most memorable wedding moments are the totally unscripted ones, and Sarah shared one of hers with us: “The funniest part of our day was once Andrew and I were announced husband and wife and we started walking back down the isle together… Andrews pants were literally falling off his waist! he had to keep pulling them up…. so all i could think about was having him do the MC Hammer dance the whole night. back story the place we rented his suit at ended up sending him home the day before the wedding with pants from pre-Covid sizing…. he lost 20 lbs. and well the pants he was given didnt have belt loops either… so my guy was running around holding his pants the whole night till one of the guests lent him his suspenders. this was one of many situations during the night that you just roll with punches!”
Andrew and Sarah were *finally* married April 16th, 2021 with an epic wedding theme! She added, “Our wedding was off the charts with our theme! so we did a Comic book / Star Wars Mash up with a more muted neutral tones meshed in. In the florals we added comic book flowers…. our grand entrance to the reception was done walking under light sabers and to the Throne Song from Star wars. “
We asked about her wedding dress shopping experience in our Los Angeles area bridal store, and Sarah said, “My dress shopping experience was a wreck until i found Strut Bridal. I had tried on about 15 dresses at about 5 other locations. most of the dresses were not meant for a woman with curves. the last store i was at right before strut bridal i literally walked out in tears and in fear i wouldnt ever be able to find the dress that would scream YES to me! The next day i had an appt with Strut Bridal in Long Beach. One of my Matrons of Honor and her daughter met me there. I instantly knew this was where i was going to say yes to the dress. not only was i able to pull whatever dresses i wanted off the rack, i was offered dresses i wouldn’t even consider ever trying on.
I always envisioned myself in a mermaid style dress. With each dress i tried on i was allowed to sit, jump and skip with the dress on to check the comfort level! once i tried on the boho style dress with such intricate lace i fell in love with it! I was told to sit and walk around for a few minutes in it. I kept looking in the mirrors…. it was completely something different that what i saw myself in. It was an Aline dress. But the dress screamed YES to me. this time i walked out in tears of happiness instead of stress. Strut made my experience beyond what my expectations were.” Thank you for those kind words, Sarah!
