Ugh. You said it. But we're thinking it, too. Prices just went up last fall. But in the last couple of weeks we've heard from several of our wedding dress brands that steep increases in the cost of cotton are having to be passed on to us in the form of higher costs. And because most bridal gown manufacturers set a MSRP (the price at which we have to sell gowns), our prices are going up, too.
Most brands wait until market (March and October) to inform us of price changes, but a few have done so mid-season. This is unheard of. Regardless, as of right now, wedding dress prices at Strut are holding steady, but we do expect them to go up this spring. And, please note, we don't always get advanced notice (ahem, Allure!) of price increases.
In addition, we got notice that our accessories prices are increasing on March 1st. That will affect the cost of veils, tiaras, hair combs, birdcage veils… Pretty much everything sparkly that goes on your head.
Bottom line: prices aren't locked in until you buy your gown (just 50% down will hold your price) or headpiece (those need to be paid in full). If you need to come back in to try on your dress, please give us a call!
