We were recently invited to an event at the Platinum Room at Skye in Peoria. We didn't know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised with a rockin' good night!
Background: Skye is relatively new. The main draw is the Platinum Room, which features dining and a show. The show is a tribute band, which has musicians playing songs from your favorite artists such as Billy Joel and Elton John. The show we saw featured the Three International Tenors, plus an ABBA show and a cover band. It was really fun and entertaining.
Skye Lounge has a cool balcony area that's perfect for private parties (bachelorette party or rehearsal dinner, perhaps!). This overlooks the main dining area and stage. It also has a large dining room with a piano on a revolving stage. We loved the small private dining room (seats about 12 people) and all of the patios, some of which had fireplaces.
Here's what we loved about Skye Lounge:
- Plenty of parking
- In a great, lively area of the valley, so you could easily bar or restaurant hop your way there
- Decent food–not wow, but tasty and beautifully plated
- Lots of options, such as private rooms and patios
- Great light show and large screens (you could do a video montage or slide show!)
- Huge selection of tribute bands covering artists such as the Eagles, Beatles, Beach Boys, Rush and even Bon Jovi
- Amazing service. We couldn't say enough about how nice and attentive everyone was there. Truly exceptional.
While we enjoyed the show, we tried to imagine how this could work for a wedding. After all, it seemed that the focus was on the stage. But we spoke to a couple of the folks from Skye and they said that simply rearranging tables keeps the emphasis on the couple. Great!
They have a dance floor and a great range of seating options from cozy 4 person tables to larger rounds and even some high top tables. They can do plated dinners or buffets. They seemed so accommodating. We highly recommend checking them out if you're looking for an unusual or non-traditional reception venue in the West Valley!
