It's almost time for our Spring 2013 prom dresses to arrive, so we wanted to take a minute and fill you in on the prom dress trends we saw at market.
Strut carries Night Move prom dresses, and by far and away their best selling dress (to bridal stores like ours) is #6611.
This dress is just incredible and illustrates a few of top the trends for 2013 prom dresses.
- Cut lace and beadwork. Night Moves 6611 has the most beautiful beaded floral lace on the bodice.
- Sheer panels. We saw a lot of cut-outs and sheer panels in prom gowns. While this look is more difficult for a plus size prom dress, we're stocking #6611 for our curvy high school girls who want to be a bit daring. As always, we can order any Night Moves dress in any size, even if we don't have it in stock.
- Sequins. If we could sum up trends in one word, it would be sequins. We saw so many floor length fully sequined prom gowns. With good shapeware, they will still work well for plus size prom gowns. Here's a picture of Night Moves 6627, which is a slim, all-sequin gown.
4. Ombre: Ombre is color that fades from one into another, often in the same color pallette (like shades of light purple into dark purple, for example). Here Night Moves 6600 uses shades of pink:
5. Hi-low hems: We still saw lots of hi-low hems and overlays, like this plus size prom dress from Night Moves:
This prom dress has a fully sequined skirt with light chiffon overlay, giving coverage for girls that want to show just a little leg! Ruffled hi-low hem prom dresses were still popular, too.
We didn't see as many short dresses or printed chiffons at market. You can still rock these styles for prom 2013, but they may be harder to find.
Remember, you want to shop early for prom 2013. Because you often can't order dresses (they only buy stock once), once the inventory is gone, it's GONE!
