Kayla and her family had a whole day of shopping before coming to our Arizona wedding dress store. She needed the perfect wedding dress for her hometown West Virginia Wedding. Her loved ones had flown in to share this moment with her, so Kayla knew they had to make the most of it.
“I had gone shopping at another bridal store right before my Strut appointment. I thought I found the one and almost said yes to the dress. But for me, it was hard to vision because the dress did not fit properly.” Kayla said, “My mom, sister, and I decided that we would take a lunch break and gather our thoughts. We almost did not come to Strut, but since my family flew out to AZ and it was my first time trying on wedding dresses, I told them ‘Let’s just go and see!’” After trying on just a few more wedding gowns, Kayla found the one!
She added, ”I tried a few dresses on and once I put my dress on I just knew it was the one! I kept comparing the dress at Sturt to the other one and I kept coming back to the dress at Strut. It just had everything I wanted and I was able to vision the full look since the dress fit like a glove. Brooke helped me so much!” Here she wears her Nana’s necklace that her Nana received on her own wedding day – what an incredible family heirloom!
Kayla said yes to an all-lace Aline gown with a scoop back and thin beaded straps. The sample she had tried on needed just a few small tweaks for Kayla to see her perfect gown; cue our in-store bridal expert to make some magic and show her exactly what she needed. “I wanted lace thicker straps as well as the in ivory,” the bride said, “Brooke went above and beyond to find a swatch of ivory fabric and extra lace appliques to put on the straps…. I was like this is my dress!”
On September 4th, 2021, Kayla and her fiancé Jay were wed in her hometown of Morgantown, West Virginia. The ceremony took place at her home church with a reception following at the reception hall at the local 4H camp, Camp Muffly. The colors of dusty blue with charcoal grey paired perfectly with the rustic wood and greenery accents, giving the wedding a very homey feel. The highlight of the night for the bride and groom: the traditional sing-along send-off.
“It is a tradition at the end of every WV wedding to sing Country Roads (by John Denver),” Kayla later wrote us, “Everyone gathers around the bride and groom swaying back and forth singing Country Roads. Then after, everyone went outside and made an aisle with lots of different lights and glow sticks for our exit. We paused for a kiss with all of our close friends and families squeezed around us. It still gives me chills today when I look back at that picture!”
With the soundtrack for the perfect send-off, the newlyweds dawned on their decorated golf cart and headed off for the night. One could say that the whole event truly was “Almost heaven…”
